The RAF Mildenhall Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) provides programs and services to assist the Commanders in their mission at identifying, assessing, and minimizing personal and family-related challenges to maintaining unit cohesion and strengthening operational readiness.

Our spouse-focused programs include the Key Spouse Program, which is a program to help connect Commanders and spouses to enhance unit and family readiness. The M&FRC also provides a spouse orientation program called, Heart Link, this program provides education and enrichment services helping spouses transition into the family life cycle in the military.

The M&FRC is also home to the Installation Voting Assistance Agency. The Installation Voting Assistance Officer (IVAO) is always available to assist you with registering to vote absentee, updating your mailing address, or answering all your voting questions.

Newcomer's Orientation

Call to Register

Please coordinate with your sponsor and unit Commanders’ Support Section (CSS) to register for Team Mildenhall Newcomer Orientations. Registration is completed through the Team Mildenhall Sponsorship SharePoint site.

To register yourself, please email the Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) or call DSN 314.238.3406 or commercial 4401638.54.3406. This is a two-day program, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week (except for specific holidays) and attended in any order within 7 days of arrival.

Who Should Register?

All military and DoD civilians must attend the two-day Team Mildenhall Newcomers’ Orientation. To help spouses adapt and integrate into their new community, spouses are requested to attend a Spouse Inprocessing Orientation in addition to Thursday’s Newcomer Orientation (which includes the drivers’ training and test and resilience information).

After registration, you should receive details on how to attend Tuesday and Thursday orientations, and what to bring with you. This will include details of any in-person or virtual briefings, and how to join each meeting. Please ensure you have access to the email address that’s used for registration. Check with your sponsor and CSS for more details, or contact the M&FRC.

You may wish to download the USAF Connect App and add Team Mildenhall to ‘Favorites’ to review the USAFE-UK Driving Safety video ahead of arrival, especially if driving from Europe.

Driver's Training FAQ

  • Drivers’ training and test is included during Thursday Newcomer Orientations. Drivers’ training is required for all individuals assigned here who will be driving in the U.K. This includes dependents, DoD civilians, DoD contractors and TDY personnel. Anyone planning to drive must have a valid license and attend driver’s training within 14 days of arrival. If you are married, please ensure your spouse gets signed up to attend drivers’ training too.
  • Personnel relocating from another U.K. base are required to attend both days of briefings.
  • Spouses: Have a UK license? Please attend the briefings. The briefer will release you as necessary before the test.
  • Temporary Duty? If you’re here for 45 days or longer you will need to complete the driver’s training and test. Please also contact TRICARE at DSN 314.226.8143 for program information.
  • Review the U.K. Highway Code to help prepare for the online test, especially the traffic signs: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code. Ensure you coordinate with your sponsor, supervisor and CSS to get gained to the base within one duty day of arrival.

To get you started we can help with:

  • Basic loaner items. M&FRC may have dish pack sets, GPS, and cell phones for you to borrow for a short period of time.
  • Financial support. Consider a HALO loan to help pay for lodging or housing deposit expenses while you’re waiting for allowances to start.
  • Information and referral, volunteer, and spouse employment assistance.
