Child Care Programs

Hourly Care

Ages 6 Weeks–5 Years
$8 per hour
Monday–Friday / 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Care is provided on a first come, first served and space available basis with the exception of federal holidays and PACAF family days. Care location is provided throughout the CDC according to age. Health assessment forms and immunization records are required before hourly care can be provided.

It is based on the latest research on child development and best practices in early education and care. ELM offers a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate approach to meaningful learning for all children.

Early Learning Matters

Air Force Child Development Programs will be implementing a new curriculum for preschoolers with infant and toddler implementation in early 2019. The Early Learning Matters curriculum promotes positive outcomes in all areas of development from birth to age five. It is based on the latest research on child development and best practices in early education and care. ELM offers a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate approach to meaningful learning for all children featuring:

  • A whole child focus on skills that bolster school readiness and life success.
  • Developmentally sequenced activities that embed strategies for individualizing.
  • Evidence-informed, friendly-to-use resources for program staff and families.
  • Training tools to support direct care staff with different professional backgrounds.
  • 50 weeks of developmentally appropriate activity plans for children organized by age ranges: birth–12 months, 12–24 months, 24–36 months and 3–5 years.
  • Fully aligned with NAEYC guidelines, including accreditation criteria and early learning standards.
  • Weekly parenting tips for supporting and extending children’s learning in families.

Parent Advisory Board

To support the continued well-being of all children/youth in the programs and become more formally involved in the CYP, you are encouraged to participate in the Parent Advisory Board (PAB). Members of the PAB provide recommendations for improving services, help plan unique events, and discuss other opportunities for parent participation. The PAB is composed of parents of children and youth enrolled in each type of CYP, base personnel, and CYP professionals. We value your ideas and view the PAB as an opportunity to continue to improve the programs and services provided.

About Us

Yoiko Child Development Center

The Child Development Center is available to DoD military and civilian personnel with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. The center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and follows the standards set by the Air Force Services Agency.

The center provides a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the social, cognitive, language and physical development of young children. Our goal is to support each child’s needs and abilities while challenging them to reach thier individual potential.

We offer full-time and hourly services as well as a monthly ‘Parents Night Out’ program, which allows parents to enjoy an evening out. Whether you need full-time care or just seasonal help we have an option for you.

Family Child Care
This program provides care for children ages two weeks to twelve years old in on-base housing. All FCC providers are licensed child care professionals. Licensed FCC providers are the only people on base who may provide care in government quarters for more than 10 hours per week on a regular basis.

Cheli School Age Care
Open to children from Kindergarten to sixth grade. Cheli SAC is open for full time care during school breaks.

Lunney Youth Center
We provide a safe, fun, and educational after school environment for children ages nine through thirteen. Annual memberships are available to for children which includes FREE access to multiple, daily Boys and Girls Clubs of America and 4–H sponsored programs and clubs. After the first visit, memberships are required for children to attend the center.

Misawa Teen Center
We provide teens a fun, safe, and interactive after school environment for youth ages thirteen through eighteen. Annual memberships are available and include FREE access to daily Boys and Girls Clubs of America and 4–H Clubs, specials events, and trips. After the first visit, memberships are required to attend the center to play video games, shoot pool, do homework, and much more.
