Visit the most sparkling region of France and enjoy a journey for all five senses
Distance from base: 300 km
Visit with ITT the most sparkling region of France and enjoy a journey for all five senses Sante (Cheers) in Champagne, where the name says it all. You explore the city of Reims, where the French monarchs were once crowned. Reims, the capital of the Champagne region is known as the city of Champagne. It is a must visit for anyone who loves Champagne, culture and history. Top sight is the Reims Cathedral called Notre Dame de Reims which is an UNESCO World heritage Site. Today, important champagne houses have found their home here. A tour of discovery with all your five senses, on and underground, including several tastings of the sparkling drink, will show you the beauty of the region.
Verzenay is a small village known for its windmill and the wine museum, which are privately owned by the Mumm champagne house.
A tour of the museum will give you a deep insight into the landscapes and wine regions of Champagne. You will also learn about the history of the fine wine and the various production processes.
There is also the possibility of climbing the 25 meter high Verzenay lighthouse. After climbing 101 steps you reach the viewing platform, which offers you a fascinating view over a sea of vineyards.
In the Pressoria adventure center, learn with all five senses how sparkling champagne is made and why Champagne is a good place for it. Afterwards, of course, we try it out. Then you will get to know Epernay. Together with Reims, it forms the center of the champagne trade and is home to the 10 largest champagne houses in the world, which are located on the Avenue de Champagne or nearby.
e.g. Moet et Chandon, Mercier and De Castellane. There are a total of 35 champagne houses in Epernay, which are known worldwide and store over 200 million bottles. In Epernay or the surrounding area, visit one of the wineries and taste fine wines.
