Welcome

Welcome to the Beale AFB Child Development Center! We seek to provide a safe, healthy, caring, and fun learning environment for the children in our care. We devote each moment of our day to the development of an environment conducive to learning. Each child is challenged to reach his or her fullest development as a whole child. The facility was opened in 2012 for up to 304 children.

Philosophy

We believe that children learn through active, hands-on involvement with their environment, peers, and caring adults. Play aids growth; it provides an imaginary world where children can master events that happen and provides a basis for their physical development. We respect each child’s unique interests, experiences, abilities, and needs, thus allowing us to be responsive to and appropriate for each child. Children are valued as individuals. Likewise, our program respects and supports the ideals, cultures, and values of families in their task of nurturing children.

Types of Care

Full Time: Full time, contact care can be any time during the normal hours of operation.
Hourly Care: Hourly care is available on a space available basis. The cost of hourly care is $8.00 per hour or any part of an hour per child. Reservations are for times between 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM, however children may not be dropped off between 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Payment for hourly care is due upon pick up of your child.

Fees

Fees for full time care are on a sliding fee schedule with nine categories based on Total Family Income.

Eligibility and Participation

Children eligible for admission are dependent children ranging in age from six weeks to five years of age of Wounded Warriors, active duty military personnel, DoD civilian personnel paid with either APF or NAF, reservists/guard on orders, serving spouse combat related, DoD Contractors, Federal Retirees, and inactive/guard reserve.

Life at the CDC

The Child Development Center offers both full-time and hourly care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

The CDC has been accredited since 1995 by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs (part of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, NAEYC).   • Designed to accommodate 280 children, the CDC provides quality care for the children of Beale.

Good Nutrition

Good Nutrition Begins Early

Childhood overweight and obesity has become a big health concern for many families, teachers and health professionals across the country. One of the biggest contributors to this growing epidemic is that children are consuming foods that are high in sugars and fats and foods that offer very little nutritional value needed to support a child’s growing body. Since a child’s eating habits are formed early in life, it is extremely important that parents (as well as those who work with young children), ensure that healthy foods are provided for children throughout the day. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, the following steps can help improve your child’s health:

  • Eat 5 fruits and vegetables per day.
    Limit consumption of sugar sweetened beverages.
  • Eat breakfast daily.
  • Switch to low-fat dairy products.
  • Limit fast food, take out, and eating out.
  • Prepare foods at home as a family.
  • Eat a diet rich in calcium.
  • Eat a high fiber diet.
  • Breastfeed exclusively until 6 months and maintain breastfeeding after introdcution of solid food until 12 months of age.

At the Beale Air Force Base Child Development Center, we offer children wonderful opportunities to learn good eating habits while providing them with well balanced, nutritional meals in accordance with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines. The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsored by USDA is available without charge to all eligible participants receiving care in a sponsored licensed CDC, FCC home and Youth Center. “In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, the CDC, Youth Center and FCC are prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.   • To begin process for enrollment, please fill out the form below.
  • Families requesting access will receive a time-sensitive registration link for the CYP-BMS Parent Portal.
  • Create your Family Record and profiles for all participating children, set up automatic payment and upload current immunizations.
  • Search for Parent’s Night Out under Camp/Instructional Classes.
