Fitness And Readiness Go Hand In Hand

The Columbus AFB Fitness Center offers an array of fitness options such as top of the line workout equipment, aerobics classes, intramural sports, monthly Fun Runs, and other special events that promote fitness. It houses cardio equipment, two rooms of selectorized weight machines, a free-weight room, spin room, aerobics room, 2-racquetball courts and a full size basketball court.

Fitness Center Rules

  1. 100% ID check upon entering the facility.
  2. You must be an authorized patron in order to utilize this activity. All military Active Duty, Reservists, National guards, Retired Military and their eligible family members are authorized to sign in guest. All guest must arrive and leave with you.
  3. Shirts, shorts/athletic clothing and closed toe athletic shoes must be worn at all times. No jeans, belts, open toe shoes or other street clothes are permitted. Casual slacks/shorts and jeans are considered non-exercise attire and are not authorized. Military utility uniforms are authorized to be worn during workouts and members may remove their utility uniform coat (shirt); however, t-shirts must be worn.
  4. Attire must be conservative and modest in nature. Customers not wearing proper attire will be asked to change into appropriate exercise clothing or leave the facility.
  5. Obscene/offensive language or graphics are prohibited.
  6. Only court shoes with non-marking soles will be worn on hardwood floors; boots are not authorized on treadmills or hardwood floors.
  7. Due to safety concerns (including an increased risk of dehydration and heat illness), garments made of plastic, rubber, nylon, etc., that are specifically designed to increase the amount of perspiration, are not authorized in any fitness facility, to include outdoor running tracks and fields.
  8. As a courtesy to all users there is a 30 minute time limit on all cardio equipment (when others are waiting).
  9. Please return all weights to proper storage racks. Remember other users may be unable to lift or remove the weight you have used. Please do not move or relocate equipment.
  10. You are required to utilize security collars on all barbells. Please use assistance of a spotter when using free-weight bars for your safety.
  11. Wipe down equipment after use.
  12. All electronics devices will be used with headphones/ear buds.
  13. You should always obtain a physician’s clearance prior to beginning any exercise program. You exercise at your own risk and are responsible for your guest as well.

Fitness Center Activities


Gymnasium
The gym is used for a variety of activities such as basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball. Open court hours are Monday-Friday 11am-1pm and 4:00  -6:00 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM; and Sunday 4:00 – 6:00 PM (volleyball). Volleyballs, basketballs, dodgeballs, and footballs are available to be checked out.


2-Racquetball Courts
The racquetball courts can be reserved one day in advance. However, if you don’t show up for your reserved time, the court will be released 10 minutes after the hour. Impact resistant eye ware must be worn. Court#1 is reserved for challenge play Mon-Fri 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 4:00 – 6:00 PM. racquet ball racquet, ball, and goggles may be checked out.


Cardiovascular Room
The cardio room features various workout equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, stair climbers, and NordicTrack machines.


Spin Room / Cycling Studio
The spin room has more than a dozen stationary bikes and features multi-media equipment with large screens for instructional workout videos.


Free Weight Room
The free weight room has iron grip free weights, and hammer strength free weight equipment.


Strength Training Room
The strength training room has a full selection of weights, kettlebells, bench press, free weights, plates, and much more.


Stretching And AB Room


Group Exercise Room
Group exercise sessions are scheduled periodically. Ask the Fitness Center staff when the next one will take place.

Men, Women And Senior Officer Locker Room

Alpha Warrior Tent Rules

  1. Serving DoD Cardholders only
  2. Alpha Warrior Tent is open during fitness Center hours of operation.
  3. Customers must check-in with the fitness Center front desk prior to entering.
  4. Equipment must be cleaned by customers before and after use.
  5. All electronics devices must be used with headphones/earbuds.
  6. Honor system will be necessary for operations as the tent is separate from the main facility.

Outdoor Sports Venues

The Fitness Center is responsible for the following Outdoor Facilities:

  • Running Track at Freedom Park
  • Tennis Courts
  • Outdoor Basketball Courts
  • Softball Fields
  • Football / Soccer Field

Intramural Sports

Intramural Sports include volleyball, softball, flag football, and basketball.

Fitness 101 Instructional Classes

For those new to fitness, Fitness 101 Instructional classes are available. The Fitness Center has a large selection of cardiovascular and strength training equipment, but if you don’t know how to use it, what good is it? If you would like to learn the fundamental principles of exercise and the “secret” of the greatest weight loss program of all time, make an appointment for this one-hour class. Our trained fitness specialists will teach you how to exercise effectively to meet your goals, as well as train you to use all of our equipment. This is a great class for those who are new to working-out, or who haven’t been to the Fitness Center recently.

Group & Self-Directed Training

TRX
This suspension training utilizes your body weight for resistance and helps you build muscular strength and endurance, helps build a rock solid core and can benefits people of all fitness levels.

Self-Directed
Highly diverse and intense workout DVD’s available for checkout at front desk and use in our facility at your own pace. DVD’s available – P90X, Insanity, Jillian Michaels Body Revolution, and Spinning DVD’s.

Fitness On Request
We Now Offer a truly COMPREHENSIVE group Fitness platform that is available all day and completely customized to meet your needs. What could be more convenient…It specializes in a wide range of fitness programs. These include strength training, cycling, yoga, Pilates, and others…Looking for a group fitness class, but never able to find one you want, when you want it? With over 100 different classes on our Fitness On Request System!
