The Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) has a team of work life specialists and program staff that each provide targeted assistance to our Air Force community. Their sole mission is to assist Airmen and their Families with the skills and resources needed to navigate military life. Programs and services include such topics as: Family Readiness, Employment & Volunteer Assistance, Transition Assistance Program, Relocation Assistance, Personal Financial Management, Exceptional Family Member Program-Family Support (EFMP-FS), Casualty Assistance, and Voting Assistance just to mention a few.
The Relocation Program helps our community adjust when they first arrive with a Newcomers Orientation and information about the local area, and again when members prepare to leave for their next assignment with PCS workshops and information. Our Transition Assistance Program assist service members who are leaving the military and provides information on employment opportunities, veterans resources and adjusting to the civilian sector. The M&FRC also has staff to assist with balancing financial budgets and investments, volunteer opportunities on and off the installation, preparing for deployment and assisting with survivor benefits. The EFMP-FS Coordinator has resources for our family members with special needs and hosts a variety of activities.
As the new flight chief for the M&FRC, Mrs. Nicole Heller oversees the day-to-day management of the M&FRC staff who provide targeted support through programs and services to Airmen and their Families. Whether that’s offering workshops and training to increase knowledge and skills sets, hosting an event for community members to network and connect or providing that one-on-one assistance to help an individual cope with major life events or stressors–they’re here to get the right information and resource to you.
Mrs. Heller comes to Columbus AFB from Vilseck, Germany where she was the Operations Officer for Army Community Service at US Army Garrison Bavaria. She has worked for military family programs for 15 years with the Army as a military spouse while her husband was active duty before joining Team Blaze in November 2022. But the Air Force is not completely foreign to her; she grew up as an Air Force kid and is excited she gets to continue her own civilian service with the Air Force community.
