Your Library Making Reading Fun For All Ages At CAFB

September 1, 2022

The Columbus AFB Library, located in the BLAZE Commons, is gaining momentum as additional personnel are on-board and making an impact. Gloria, April, and Sabrina are working hard to make the library experience fun for young and old alike. They are active daily with various programs, crafts, and story times. With the new staff available, the Library has extended its operating hours to Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Also, it is open until 7:00 pm on Thursday.

The Summer Reading Program, “Road Beyond the Beaten Path”, ended in August. This year’s Summer Reading Program had more than 35 participants of all ages, with winners receiving various prizes. Tuesdays are a popular gathering place as the Library host StoryTime in the Commons. Children listen to a story which many times involves a craft or coloring project.

In addition to fiction and non-fiction titles for all, the library offers audio books, eBooks, movies, and computer-based programs to meet educational and recreational reading needs. Wi-Fi access is available throughout the facility.

The library’s collection also includes: the Air Force Chief of Staff Reading List to foster Airmanship; testing study materials (e.g., CLEP, DSST, ASVAB, SAT, ACT, GRE, and much more), Spanish books, printed newspapers and magazines for adults and children are also available. Its digital imprint includes OverDrive, RBDigital, Mango Language programs, and more. The Air Force’s eLibrary provides a wealth of resources for everyone.
