Youth Center Offers Quality Youth Programs With ‘Edutainment’

Who says learning is not fun? The Youth Center contributes to the readiness and improves productivity through quality youth programs that are both fun and educational. It helps youth develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities. This also includes opportunities for achievement, leadership, and recognition through United States Air Force Programs, Boys and Girls Club of America Programs, and National 4-H Club Programs, while still promoting quality of life and esprit de corps for the members of the Columbus Air Force Base Community.

The Youth Center host field trips and events throughout the year for youth and teens 9-18 years of age on Columbus AFB and area attractions. It provides a safe environment supervised by a caring and well-trained staff.

When youth go to the Youth Center, they enjoy a wide range of activities. The staff conducts social recreation games. On occasion, the center has special events that include family members. There is a computer lab and a separate teen room for ages 13 and up.

Periodically the center holds classes such as ballet, gymnastics, martial arts & more. During the summer, there are special skills camps such as Archery, Paintball, Culinary, Theater, and more.

Columbus AFB Youth Programs participate in other national Air Force and civilian programs such as Torch Club, Keystone Club, Power Hour, Fine Arts, Photography, Youth of the Year, Youth Sponsorship, Gardening, Smart Girls, Sports and Fitness, Lights on after School, Spring Fling, BGCA Day for Kids, Breakfast with Santa, MLK Celebration, 4-H Programs and more.

To be eligible for Youth Programs you must be a dependent of active duty military personnel, retiree’s, DoD civilians, NAF employees, or permanent contractor. Youth, age 3-5 may participate in those activities organized specifically for their age group. Youths 6-8 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or sibling over 16 years of age unless they are participating in an activity that includes continuous adult supervision.
