Youth Center Provides Developmental Opportunities Year-round

The Youth Center at Columbus Air Force and its caring and well-trained staff are dedicated to contributing to mission readiness and improved productivity through quality youth programs. It provides opportunities for youth to develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities through a wide range of educationally enhanced programs, instructional classes, field trips and events for youth and teens 9-18 year of age on Columbus AFB.

The Youth Center provides a safe and fun environment for special activities such as games and social recreation, events for families, computer lab, field trips, skill camps, classes for ballet, gymnastics, martial arts, and much more.

The center also offers programs such as Torch Club, Keystone Club, Power Hour, Fine Arts, Photography, Youth of the Year, Youth Sponsorship, Gardening, Smart Girls, Sports and Fitness, Lights on after School, Spring Fling, BGCA Day for Kids, Breakfast with Santa, MLK Celebration, 4-H Programs and more.

The School Age Program offers fun activities and educational programs for children ages 5-12 years. Children and youth spend hours participating in a variety of activities planned specifically for them. They have access to a fully equipped gymnasium, computer lab, arts and crafts area, an outdoor playground and much more! All activities are planned and facilitated by trained Child and Youth Professionals whose curriculum is guided by AF, the Boys Club of America and 4-H.

The SAP is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation and guarantees year round quality care; supporting military families, civilian and contractors.

When school is not in session the center provides full day care from 0700-1800 and camps. During winter, spring and summer breaks, it operates weekly camps offering field trips, extended activities and guest speakers.

The Teen Room offers opportunities for teens to develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities, and to experience achievement, leadership, enjoyment, friendship, and recognition. Being a teen has never been this much fun! The program has extended hours on Friday for teens.

The Teen Room features lounge furniture, karaoke, pool table, video games, ping pong table, designated homework computers with printers, and indoor and outdoor basketball courts.
