Eielson Air Force Base is hosting a Wing-wide Sports Day Friday, July 26, where all squadrons come together for a day of friendly competition. Held on a designated down day, Icemen Sports Day aims to foster camaraderie, teamwork, and a healthy competitive spirit among participants. The day will feature a variety of sports and activities as well as vendors and sponsors, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Awards and recognition will be given to winning teams and individuals in each event.

Baker Field House 5K

Lace up your running shoes and get ready for a fantastic 5K run open to all ages! This event is perfect for everyone, from seasoned runners to families looking for a fun way to stay active together. The scenic course will take you on a refreshing journey around the base, starting and ending at the iconic Baker Field House.

Esports Tournaments

Super Smash Brothers & Madden

SMASH RULES: Double Elimination tournament. Best 2 games out of three; best 3 games out of 5 during top 16 (subject to change). Three stock battle, seven-minute timer. Items, final smash meter, stage morph, custom balance, handicap, and pause are OFF. Stage hazards are ON.

Open to 18+. Sign up by July 19.

Pickleball

Two people per team. USA pickleball rules. Paddles will be provided to those who do not have their own. Tournament style bracket, single elimination. Single game to 7 or 11 depending on how many teams sign up.

Dodgeball

6-person teams. 6-minute games. Baker Field House rules. Tournament style bracket, single elimination.

Flag Football

5 person teams. Tournament style bracket, single-elimination. Both teams will be issued a 2-minute possession. After the first possession from each team, whoever has more points will be the winner. If the game is tied after the first possessions, both teams will be awarded another until one team outscores the other.

3pt Shootout

Players attempt to make as many three-point shots as possible from five stations behind the three-point line in one minute. Each station features a rack of basketballs, with four standard shots worth one point and a coveted “Money Ball” worth two points

Open Swim

12:30 – 4:00 PM | Open to All Ages

Dive into fun at the Open Swim session, available for all ages! This recreational swimming event is designed for all personnel to relax, splash around, and enjoy a refreshing break. Whether you’re looking to swim a few laps, play in the water, or just float and unwind, the pool is open for you.

Pool Rules & Guidance

Adherence to posted safety guidance, rules, and lifeguard direction is mandatory. Customers will shower before entering, no exceptions. No running outside the pool. No food or outside beverages allowed. Children who cannot swim must wear a life jacket and be within arm’s length of a parent/guardian. Youth who are capable swimmers and wish to swim in the deep end of the pool, must pass a swim test administered by our lifeguards the day of the event. Children who are not potty trained must wear swim diapers. The pool will be capped at 75 swimmers at a time on a first come first serve basis. Swimming attire is required, and patrons should bring their own towels. Failure to adhere to any rules may result in swim privileges being revoked.

3v3 Soccer

3 person teams, 10-minute games. Shin guards required. Tournament style bracket, single elimination.

Home Run Derby

12 swings per player, 8 players per field. Winners from each field compete against each other with 15 more swings each. Most homeruns wins. Bring your own bat and glove.

3v3 Basketball

3 person teams, 10-minute games or first to 21 (win by 2). Tournament style bracket, single elimination.

4x100 Relay Swim

Four swimmers per team alternate swimming 100-meter freestyle legs. The first team that completes all four 100-meter legs wins.

Rinse off in the shower before getting in the pool. Swimmers will swim in their own lane.

Ultimate Frisbee

7-person teams, 9 minute games. Tournament style bracket, single elimination.

Volleyball

4-person teams, 10 minute games. Tournament style bracket.

Squadron vs. Squadron Tug of War

8-person teams, no more than 1 team per squadron. Tournament style bracket, single elimination. The team who crosses the midline first loses. If after 2 minutes no team has crossed the midline, whichever team is closer to the midline at the 2 minute mark loses.
