Family Child Care
Have you recently PCS’d to Fairchild or returned home from a deployment? If so, you may qualify for FREE CHILD CARE through the Family Child Care Program. A variety of FREE care is available including, PCS Care, Deployment/Remote Child Care, UTA Child Care, Extended Duty Care and 24/7 Care. In addition, we offer subsidized full-time care and subsidized part-time care.
You can request part-time care and drop-in child care and each individual provider sets the fees. These programs are listed in detail in the sections below. Please, we invite you to read the page and contact the Family Child Care Office and we’re happy to help!

FCC Subsidy / Military Child Care
This program is able to help a family with Family Child Care fees. It is the same weekly fee charged for child care in an Air Force Child Development Center (CDC) or Air Force School-Age Care (SAC) Program. Children with special needs may qualify for this as well.
Eligibility requirements:
- Child is on the waiting list for the FCC Program through MilitaryChildCare.com
- Parent is active duty or DoD civilian
- All adults living in the household must be either working or enrolled in school full-time, or can be looking for employment for a 90-day period
- Once approved you must register in the CYPBMS (Your FCC Coordinator will assist you with this.)

Deployment FREE Care
The FCC is offering FREE childcare for anyone stationed on Fairchild that is or will be deployed for more than 30 days.
Families may receive:
- 16 hours for pre-deployment care
- 16 hours each month of the deployment care
- 16 hours of post-deployment care
This may be used once the member has orders and ends 30 days upon return from the deployment.
Care only applies to FCC providers. You must provide two forms including:
- A copy of orders or a letter in lieu must be provided.
- Air Force Child Entended Care Form
FCC Subsidy / Military Child Care
This program is able to help a family with Family Child Care fees. It is the same weekly fee charged for child care in an Air Force Child Development Center (CDC) or Air Force School-Age Care (SAC) Program. Children with special needs may qualify for this as well.

FREE Home Community Care
There is now FREE child care available to Guard and Reserves members at Fairchild in which there is no other family member to take care of the children during their training periods or Unite Training Assemblies.
Eligibility requirements:
- Military (CAT A & B) assigned to an AF Guard or Reserve Unite / Installation.
- Available for regularly scheduled or rescheduled drill periods.
- AF Form 40As required for Rescheduled Drills
- AF Form FCC ECC needs to be submitted to the FCC office. Call the office at 509.247.5336.
- Enrollment may take 1 – 3 weeks.
Extended Duty Care
FREE child care that is accessible to military members as they perform their mission during contingency or high temp operations. The program is designed to help families who have to temporarily work longer hours, evenings, overnights, weekends, or are experiencing a temporary shift change.
24/7 Child Care
Child care is designed to assist a family’s utilization of a certificated FCC home when their work schedules are outside typical normal operating hours of the facility/home where they are already purchasing full-time care.
Examples: shift workers, security forces, medical etc.

PCS Child Care
FCC PCS Care is sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society, it is designed to help relieve some stress felt by families in the process of a PCS move.
Families may receive 20 hours of child care at both the departing and inbound installations.
Families may use the child care 60 days before the family’s departure and 60 days upon arriving at the new installation.
Families may receive:
- Member of the Air Force active duty, completed Child Care for PCS Certificate obtained from the Military & Family Readiness Center, copy of PCS orders

Military Support Appointment Care
(MSAC) is a new program designed to provide child care for spouses of Active Duty or Reserve/Guard Members inactivate status to attend :
- Medical appointments
- M&FRC Classes or Appointments
- Appointments with the Chaplin
- Job Interview
Emergency Medical Care (EMC)
The DAF FCC EMC is designed to provide child care for families who are experiencing an “emergency” medical issue with an immediate household member
- Not for long term treatment of an illness/disease
- Families may receive up to 48 hours of EMC child care per child
- Additional hours may be available with written request
- If not approved for DAF FCC EMC, families may be eligible under DAF FCC SUB
Eligibility Requirements
- Member of the Military Service Active Duty or Reserve/Guard Member in an Active Duty status
- Reserves/Guard Member in an Active Duty Status is defined as the Member must be performing full time duty in a military status
Wounded Warrior Care (WWC)
The DAF FCC WWC is designed to provide child care for families of combat wounded warriors who have short-term child care needs for medical and military appointments for active duty members or DAF retirees in a combat wounded warriors’ status.
Eligibility Requirements
- Member of the Military Service Active Duty or Reserve/Guard Member in an Active Duty status, or DAF Retiree with a Combat Wounded Warrior Status
- Reserves/Guard Member in an Active Duty Status is defined as the Member must be performing full time duty in a military status
- Assigned to, living or working on the installation
- Not applicable for DAF retirees
- No other adult member of the household is available to provide care
Child Care Support for Fallen Warriors (BC)
The DAF FCC BC is designed to provide child care for families who have a fallen military immediate family member for dignified transfers and military appointments
Eligibility Requirements
- Fallen Warrior was a member of the Military Service Active Duty or Reserves/Guard Member in an Active Duty Status
- Reserves/Guard Member in an Active Duty Status is defined as the Member must be performing full time duty in a military status
- Fallen Warrior was assigned to, living or working on the installation
- No other adult member of the household is available to provide care
ChildCare vs FCC Provider
Become a (Legal) care provider
AFI 34-144 requires individuals in family housing (military or privatized) who provide child care in their home for more than 10 child care hours per week, to be licensed providers.
A child care hour is the number of hours times the number of children in care. If unlicensed child care continues, the Base Commander can revoke your privilege of living in base housing, If you need FCC services ensure the provider is licensed. Each approved home will have a license hanging in the home and a sign on the outside of the home.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I qualify to become an FCC caregiver?
To become an FCC caregiver you:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be a High School Graduate
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English
- Must be the spouse of an active duty or retired military member
- Must be physically and mentally capable of obtaining an FCC license, passing all training requirements, and caring for the daily needs of young children
Can I live off-base and be an FCC Provider?
If you are the spouse of an active duty military member, or a military retiree, you may apply to become and FCC provider. You may become and affiliate provider if you regularly care for at least one military dependent (other than your own child) in your home. All FCC caregivers must meet the same requirements. Off-base providers receive the same benefits as an on-base provider.
How do you become a licensed FCC Provider?
- Attend and FCC Orientation Training, pass the 15-module training leading to licensing
- Obtain CPR and First Aid certifications
- Obtain a valid Food Handler’s Card and medical certificate
- Accomplish required home health, safety, fire, and FCC inspections
- Complete 24 hours of supplemental training annually
What professional support do FCC providers receive?
- The FCC Office sponsors classes and workshops in child development for the professional development of providers
- Lending libraries with toys, equipment, games, and resources keep activities fresh and affordable
- Promoting your business through FCC provider referral list to parents
