At Grace Presbyterian Church, we believe that serving others is at the heart of what it means to live out our faith. Our partnership with the Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) is a key part of our commitment to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable in our community. CAM provides practical, compassionate assistance to individuals and families who are experiencing financial hardship, homelessness, and other struggles.

Christian Assistance Ministry (CAM) is a faith-based organization that has been serving the San Antonio community for over 30 years. CAM’s mission is to provide emergency financial, food, and clothing assistance to those in need, along with connecting individuals to other community resources to help them on their journey toward self-sufficiency.
CAM serves people in crisis situations, such as those facing homelessness, job loss, or medical emergencies, and offers them a range of services that address both their immediate and long-term needs. Through a compassionate, non-judgmental approach, CAM ensures that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect as they receive support during challenging times.

At Grace Presbyterian Church, we are proud to partner with CAM in a variety of ways, contributing both our time and resources to support the ministry’s mission.
Ongoing Donations
Our church is committed to regularly donating clothing, food, and hygiene products to CAM. We have a designated collection trunk at the church where members of our congregation can drop off donations year-round.
Once the trunk is full, we transport the items to CAM’s central location in downtown San Antonio. These donations provide vital support to families and individuals who are struggling to meet their basic needs.
Annual Donation Drives
Throughout the year, we organize special drives to collect specific items in high demand by CAM, such as:
Personal hygiene products (e.g., soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant)
Coats and jackets (particularly in winter months)
Non-perishable food items (canned goods, pasta, rice, etc.)
These drives are a way for us to actively engage our congregation in providing for those who are less fortunate, especially during times when needs are especially high.
Grace Bags for the Homeless
One of the unique ways our church members support CAM’s mission is through the Grace Bags initiative. These bags are filled with essential items such as canned food, crackers, bottled water, and hygiene products, and are made available to congregation members to distribute to people they encounter who are experiencing homelessness.
Each bag also includes a note that reads, “Grace Presbyterian Church loves you and is praying for you,” along with the contact information for CAM, ensuring that individuals know where they can access further support. These bags are a simple but powerful way for us to show God’s love in tangible ways.
