Our Services

We are your destination for all things education, both formal and voluntary! We offer a wide variety of programs and services for military members, family members and DoD Civilians, including academic and vocational advising, educational and military testing, and much more! We also offer flexible scheduling and internet courses for shift workers and those frequently TDY.

We offer counseling on:

  • General college information
  • Tuition assistance
  • GI Bill
  • Commissioning programs
  • CLEP/DSST testing
  • General test proctoring
  • Financial aid services

The Base Training Functions, including formal training, civilian training, and military/OJT training are also collocated in the Education Center.

On-Base Colleges & Universities

We provide accredited degree granting programs on base for military members, their families, and all area adults. Our on-base schools combine to provide both undergraduate and graduate options all on base. The accelerated course format contributes to a high degree completion rate for our students.

Our on-base schools’ 8-week semester, combined with our carefully designed sequential offering of courses, permits students to complete one full year of college by attending classes as little as 2 evenings per week during 10 months of the year!

In this way, our students can obtain associate and master’s degrees in 2 years, and a baccalaureate degree in 4. Most classes are offered in the evenings and on weekends, allowing our students to remain fully employed while they pursue a college degree.

The following fully accredited colleges and degree programs are designed for the working adult and are open to all area residents.

Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)

CCAF is the largest community college in the world. CCAF has been established as an accredited higher institute of learning dedicated to the enlisted members of the United States Air Force. Members are awarded an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree that is based off the members AFSC.

How does a student have his/her civilian credit applied to the CCAF record?

  • All transcripts submitted to CCAF for credit transfer evaluation must be official and in English.
  • CCAF will only accept transcripts sent directly from the institution to CCAF.
  • CCAF will not accept transcripts marked “Issued to Student” or emailed/faxed copies.
  • Transcripts are not acceptable from students, advisors/counselors, recruiters or any other third party.

  • Joint Services Transcript (JST)

Electronic transcripts should be sent to:

You can check to see if your transcripts have been added to your degree audit by accessing the CCAF website or inquiring with an Education Counselor at the base Education Center.

How do I obtain an official CCAF transcript?

You can order through Parchment and submit your electronic transcript from CCAF to your college/university.

Once your order is approved through Parchment, it is transmitted to CCAF electronically. CCAF staff will verify the request and upload a copy of the your official transcript to Parchments secure site.Parchment will complete the final process of delivering the transcripts based on your order. Please allow 2-3 business days for CCAF to process your request. If you are experiencing issues after your order is approved through parchment, please contact parchment directly.

Lake Region State College (LRSC)

LRSC has been serving Airmen, their spouses and dependents, veterans, and area civilians at GFAFB for over 30 years. LRSC is a two-year community college and a member of the North Dakota University System with our main campus located in Devils Lake, ND.

Our accelerated 8-week terms, small class sizes, and excellent instructors help students focus their studies and make rapid progress towards their CCAF degree, or Lake Region certificates and degrees ranging from Nursing to Law Enforcement, Liberal Arts to Accounting, and Information Technology to Early Childhood Development.

Walker Warrior Professional Development Center

Career Counseling & Professional Development

Do you have questions about your Air Force career? What about your subordinates? The Development Advisor (DA) is here to provide career counseling for all military members of Team Grand Forks, with specialized knowledge in retraining, commissioning opportunities, and various retention programs.

The DA provides guidance on career decisions and assists supervisors or commanders in counseling personnel on various opportunities, including:

  • Retraining
  • Palace Chase/Palace Front (transitioning into Air National Guard/Air Force Reserve)
  • Reenlistment
  • And more

The DA is also here to help with professional development needs! Enlisted development courses are conducted on a rotational basis for all Airmen, NCO’s, and SNCO’s depending on the availability of units from across the installation.

Enlisted development courses include:

  • First Term Airmen Course (FTAC)
  • Junior Enlisted Foundations Course (JEFC 300)
  • NCO Foundations Course (NCOFC 500)
  • SNCO Foundations Course (SNCOFC 700)
  • Informed Decision Brief – now within Pre-Separation

First Term Enlisted Course (FTEC)

The First Term Enlisted Course provides a structured first duty station orientation that is designed to transition Airmen from a training mindset to the mission-oriented environment. The course reinforces lessons learned in basic military training and technical training to prepare Airmen for their role in supporting their organization’s mission.

All first term Airmen must attend the course within 45 calendar days of arrival to their first duty station. In addition, these Airmen are also required to attend the base-level newcomer’s orientation.

FTEC sessions are 5 days in length, Monday – Friday, from 8: AM to 4:00 PM. Supervisor support and involvement is critical for Airmen attending FTEC to ensure future success.

Etchberger Airman Leadership School

What We Offer

Airman Leadership School (ALS) prepares Senior Airmen for their transition to a supervisory role by providing 24 days of professional military education. The course is composed of four key focus areas: Air Force Culture, Mission, Problem Solving and Leadership. Graduation from ALS is a requirement for promotion to Staff Sergeant.

Grand Forks AFB ALS is accredited by the Community College of the Air Force. Upon graduation, students earn 10 credit hours toward their CCAF degree.
