The late actress and comedian Betty White said, “It’s your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don’t take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver.”
This is the mission of the Best Medicine Brigade coming to Joint Base Charleston for two free live comedy shows Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25. With three team members of the brigade claiming Charleston as home base, it’s like a special homecoming that you don’t need to go to the airport to enjoy.
Charlestonians include Erin Lok and Stan Shelby, a military vet, along with Robin Phoenix. Robin lives on the Isle of Palms, spent 26 years in the Army and she did five tours in Afghanistan. Also in the line-up is Mark Hoover, an Army veteran and former law enforcement officer, and headlining the show is Ashley Gutermuth. Ashley is a military spouse and has performed on several television shows including the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She constantly receives high praises and rave reviews from fellow comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld.
