Private organizations (POs) are self-sustaining, special interest groups set up by people acting exclusively outside the scope of any official capacity as officers, employees, or agents of the federal government. POs are not Federal entities and are not to be treated as such.

New Private Organizations

New Private Organizations are required to submit the following to us for PO Approval:

Private Organization Maintenance

  • Submission of monthly meeting minutes and bank statements
  • Annual Review of Constitution and Bylaws, officer listing, liability form and insurance waiver.

Fundraising

  • No more than three fundraisers per quarter
  • Volunteers must be off duty and cannot be in uniform
  • Private orgs may not sell or serve alcohol

Fundraisers taking place at JB Charleston must be approved in advance by the Installation Commander’s representative.

Fundraising Request Approval

For fundraising approval, read the information sheet that is specific to your organization affiliation, complete the request form. The approval process can take up to 20 business days, please submit requests at least two weeks in advance through 628 FSS/FSR.

Must include a separate sheet explaining “Who, What, When, Where, How and Why?”
