Are you looking for opportunities for your teenager to experience something new, develop skills, build character, and make new friends? The Department of the Air Force is offering several camps that will check off those boxes and more.
Because we are a Joint Base installation led by DAF, these camps are open to the Joint Base Charleston community, including Active Duty Military assigned to/living on a Department of the Air Force/Space Force installation or DAF-led Joint Base, Air Force Reserve (AFR), Air Force National Guard (ANG), DoD Civilian Employees (APF or NAF) assigned to/working on a Department of the Air Force installation or DAF-led Joint Base, or Air Force Retirees (on a space available basis)
Please note, spending money and all travel and transportation costs to and from camp locations are the responsibility of the participants.
Space Camp
This camp provides youths, 12 – 18 years of age, opportunities to explore careers as astronauts. They have the opportunity to select different Academies (found in the information guide below). Space Camp is held at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL.
The first session is July 24th-29th. The second session is August 14th – 19th. All applicants must be age-eligible for the chosen camp on or before the first day of attendance. Please note, high school graduates are NOT eligible.
Space campers will have the opportunity to train like an astronaut. They will learn teambuilding, participate in fun challenges, and put their creative thinking skills to work.
This camp is for teens who completed their Freshman, Sophomore or Junior year in high school for the 2021/2022 School Year. The goal of the camp is to build character, leadership and resilience for young people. Participants will challenge themselves to try new experiences, build a support network of peers and adult advisors, and create a sense of community with other military teens.
