Usaf Photography Contest

August 9, 2022

They always say the best camera is the one you have on you, whether you’re taking photos with your phone or your camera and most expensive piece of glass. It’s not all about the light and rule of thirds (although taking that into consideration helps) – the moment is what’s truly impactful.

This year’s theme for the US Air Force photography contest is celebrating tradition. Why? Because we are honoring the celebration of the 75th Air Force Birthday. All photos submitted to the contest should fit into the theme of “Celebrating Tradition.” We want to see how you celebrate traditions in your family or community. Have you taken a photo of something that means a lot to you personally? How best is it captured? By the emotion? The spectacle?

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners in each category. (The prizes are Amazon gift cards, so you can buy even more gear for taking photos!) Categories are for youth (ages 6-17) and adults, novice and accomplished.

Because we are a Joint Base, all Joint Base Charleston service members, family members, and DoD personnel are eligible to enter the contest. Photographs for submission must have been made between August 1, 2021 and *September 30th, 2022. Individuals are only allowed to enter two photographs.

Make sure you read all of the rules here, because there are some sticky ones about releases and post-processing: https://myairforcelife.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Rules-2022.pdf
