Welcome to the Schilling Community Center! We offer a number of different classes to pique your interest, including Piano, KUMON, and STEM. Interested in learning to drive? The Schilling houses all the New Driver’s Education information with new classes offered every month for Active Duty, Teen, and Adult Drivers. We also host free monthly programs like Picnic with Parents to help get your kid’s wiggles out, Family Bingo featuring a fun new theme each month, and Film Fridays if you’re looking for a family-friendly outing to end your week! Looking to do a little shopping? We have you covered with our monthly vendor fair featuring local sellers hosted in our garden. Be sure to follow our Facebook page to participate in our monthly Oki Living Virtual Photo Contests and receive updates on all our classes and events.
First Time Driver Course
Our American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA) certified courses are 45 hours in length with 39 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction. To enroll in a first time driver’s course, follow the flow chart to determine what your next steps are! Individuals must be SOFA Status/Sponsored.
Active Duty • $300
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Teens (Ages 16-17) • $300
*Teen and parent must be present to register

Adults(Ages 18 & Over) • $300

Frequently Asked Questions
I am Active Duty E-5 or below Navy / Marine / Army. How do I sign up for the Active Duty First-Time Drivers Course?
Please visit Foster Base Safety and obtain an Application for USFJ Form 4EJ Driver’s Permit (Yellow Card) to be endorsed by your commanding officer prior to registering for a class. Once you have a signed yellow card, bring the yellow card to the Schilling Community Center to sign up.
I am a 16-17 year old First-Time driver. How do I sign up for Driver’s Education to obtain a SOFA license?
- Air Force, DoDDs, Exchange and Air Force civilians plus their dependents: Please present a signed Learner’s Permit Request Form form to the Schilling Community Center Front Desk to enroll.
- Marines, Navy, Army, USMC/USN/USA civilians and their dependents: Please visit the Schilling Community Center Front Desk to enroll.
I do not speak/understand English very well, can I enroll in a Driver’s Education Course?
In order to comprehend the program and successfully complete the course, it is essential that students are fluent English speakers.
At this time, classes are only conducted in English.
Will this license work Stateside?
The ADTSEA program is accepted in many states. However, if you are curious about your particular state, you must contact that state’s DMV directly.
What does the Active Duty First-Time Driver’s Course Schedule look like?
- The first week of the course (five days) consists of classroom instruction.
- The following week of the course consists of Behind the Wheel Instruction.
Schedules will be adjusted to accommodate federal holidays and is subject to change.
What does the Teen & First-Time Driver’s Course Schedule look like?
- The first two weeks of the course consists of classroom instruction.
- The following weeks consist of Behind the Wheel instruction.

How does the Behind the Wheel portion work?
- Behind the Wheel instruction hours are scheduled one on one with instructor/students.
- Learner’s permits are required before beginning behind the wheel instruction. Once obtained, Learner’s permits are valid for 90 days.
- These hours may be scheduled outside of regular classroom instruction hours (morning, evening and/or weekend) at the discretion of the instructor/students availability.
- The amount of time it takes to complete the behind the wheel portion will vary and is dependent on the availability and coordination of instructor/students.

Family Bingo
- 3rd Wednesday of the Month 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Schilling Ballroom
- New Theme each month! Costumes encouraged!
- REGISTRATION: Registration is required via Webtrac ONLY.
- WHEN: Signs ups for each month’s bingo will open on the 1st of that month at 10am (Ex: January’s bingo sign ups will open on 1st January at 10am). Spots will be first come first served and will close at 10am on the morning of that month’s bingo OR when spots are filled, whichever comes first.

Kumon Learning Center
Math and Japanese
Prices: $75.00 (for one subject) / $150.00 (for both subjects)
Day/Time: Tuesday and Friday / 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Duration: 4 weeks (7 sessions. 30 minutes each)

Initial registration must be made in person at Schilling Community Center.
To enroll your child in the Kumon program the following steps must be completed:
