Workshops & Classes

Troops to Teachers Workshop

Troops to Teachers is a Defense Department program that helps eligible military personnel begin a new career as a teacher in public schools where their skills, knowledge and experience are most needed. For registration and additional information, call 376.8297.

TAP T-GPS Education Training Workshop

Transition Goals, Plans & Success Achieving Higher Education Workshop is a two-day course designed to guide transitioning service members and their families through the variety of decisions involved in the institution of higher learning process, from selecting a school and degree program to funding your education to completing the application process. Documents needed for a successful workshop: Individual Transition Plan (ITP), Career Interest Inventory, and Military Occupation Code (MOC) Cross Walk Gap Analysis, Occupation/Education results from the DOL Workshop, Verification of Military Experience & Training (VMET), Military Transcripts (CCAF or JST), and VA Benefits I Participant Guide. Armed Forces Personnel Testing(AFPT) and Foreign Language Proficiency Testing(FLPT)/Oral Proficiency Interview(OPI)

Weighted Airman Promotion System (WAPS) Testing, Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT), Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT), Foreign Language Skill Proficiency Testing, & Test of Basic Aviation Skills (TBAS). Military Tuition Assistance Counseling & Commissioning Counseling

Military Tuition Assistance is utilized to pay for college classes. Attend TA briefings every Thursday at 2 p.m. Commissioning Counseling – attend commissioning briefings every 2nd Tuesday of each month 10 a.m. Located at Sablich Center, Room 223D. Contact 228.376.8708/8710.

Dantes/Clep Tests

To schedule an appointment for a CLEP, DSST or university exam, Click here.

Follow these steps:

  1. Appointment Locator Choose Testing Services from the drop-down menu on the left.
  2. Select the test you want to take.
  3. On the Select Testing Site drop-down menu choose Keesler AFB.
  4. Select available date on the calendar (those that are gray are not available).
  5. Select preferred testing time (11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.) under the date of your choice.
  6. Select New User and create your account for scheduling a test at WBU – Keesler NTC (please make note of your username and password for future use).

If you are taking a CLEP, please make sure you have created your account with College Board, registered for the exam, and printed your registration ticket.

If you are taking a DSST, there is nothing further to do.

If you are taking a university exam, please make sure you have taken the necessary steps with your school for proctor approval.

  • $4,500 max/fiscal year (Oct. 1 – Sept. 30)
  • $250 max cap per semester credit hour
  • $166 max cap per quarter credit hour
  • Tuition Assistance covers the following education levels:
  • An associate’s degree can be attained prior to award of CCAF.
  • One bachelor’s degree
  • One master’s degree

Air Force Cool

Air Force Credentialing Opportunities On-Line Air Force COOL is a pathway for enlisted Airmen to earn industry recognized professional certifications and licenses.

AF Cool Fast Facts

Eligibility:

  • Enlisted rank of E3 and above
  • Any Air Force component (Active Duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and National Guard)
  • Possess a 5-skill level in a primary AFSC mapped to the credential *Members of the Air Force Reserve and Air Force National Guard must be on Title 10/32 active orders for the duration of the AF COOL process.

Leadership/Management credentials offered for members as an additional credentialing opportunity in the grades of E7 and above!

Credential mapping of 642 professional certifications and licenses for 190 enlisted Air Force specialty codes. $4,500 cap covers application and administrative fees, Airmen must hold 5-skill level SNCOs qualify for leader certifications in addition to AFSC related certification. Approved re-trainees who utilized AF COOL for a previous AFSC may be eligible for another credential in the newly awarded AFSC (on case-by-case basis).
