Outdoor Recreation has many great services and rentals for anyone to explore Albuquerque and enjoy the outdoors. Get advice and learn from the experiences of the staff. Take advantage of equipment available for rent and an inventory that changes with the season. Reserve your seat on one of the many outdoor adventures trips regularly offered or get a group of friends and work with the staff to create a custom trip that everyone will enjoy and make great memories.

Camp Trailer Orientation

Camp Trailer Orientation Course
$15/PERSON
Effective 1 Mar 2024, all ODR Camp Trailer rentals will first require successfully completing our Camp Trailer Orientation Course. Topics will include hooking up & towing a trailer, proper use of your water, wastewater, and electrical, operating instructions, trailer requirements, troubleshooting measures, and proper check-in/check-out procedures. Course certifications are valid for one year from the date of course completion. Your course certificate can only be used for Camp Trailer reservations in your name.

Must attend one (1) orientation course. Course training valid for one (1) year. Registration required. Must provide proof of driver’s license and insurance.

Recharge for Resiliency


Recharge for Resiliency (R4R) is an Air Force-wide program designed to connect airmen and their families with people of similar interests through fun and challenging programs. R4R encompasses the following key resiliency components: the Single Airman Programming (SAP), RecOn and Deployed Affected Programming (previously R4R). These resiliency programs target specific audiences and provide needed support for our Airmen and their families.

Elevate your private boating skills and amp up your prospects for volunteering as a raft guide with Kirtland Outdoor Recreation. Come to our meeting to learn more about white water rafting and White-Water Rafting Guide School. Ask questions and get inspired about the upcoming rafting season.

Guide School Day 1
Elevate your private boating skills and increase your prospects for volunteering as a raft guide with Kirtland Outdoor Recreation. Learn new skills like whitewater navigation, raft-rigging, camp skills, food prep and equipment care. You do not need prior outdoor or river rafting experience to participate in the Kirtland ODR Guide School, and what you will learn is useful throughout your lifetime enjoying water sports.

Guide School includes:

  • CPR and 1st Aid certification ($50 value)
  • Two-day Swift Water Rescue Certification ($300 value)
  • 5 days of whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande Racecourse (rapids class II+)
  • Kayaking and paddle board instruction
  • Rafts and related river equipment, including paddles, helmet, wetsuit, personal flotation device
  • One night minimum of riverside camping along the Rio Grande
  • Group meal on Saturday night when camping
  • Whitewater navigation, including paddle raft techniques, route selection, maneuvering rafts, boat spacing and river etiquette.
