Swimming Lessons
Swim Lessons KAFB Indoor Pool
September-December Winter/Fall
There will be no cost for the lessons at this time.
Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays for 2 weeks (4, 30-minute Lessons)
Session A: 17 September-26 September Unit One
Session B: 3 October-17 October Unit Two
Session C: 22 October-October 31 Unit Two
Session D: 12 November- 12 December Unit Three
Week of 25 November- 29 November: There are no lessons due to Thanksgiving.
Rules for Reserving Lesson Sessions:
There are three units per season except for Summer. Parents are only allowed to reserve two units in Fall/Winter and Spring Lessons. One Unit in the summer. This is to ensure everyone can get their children in at least one unit per season.
Basic Swim Class Description
Preschool 1: For 2-4 years in age. Begin Familiarization in the water. Blow bubbles, float assist, pool rules, supported kick and arm movements, learning to submerge head. Must be able to be in water without parental assistance.
Preschool 2: For 3-5 years in age. Learn to float, begin to crawl back and front. Kicking, diving for items, streamline, and other various drills to begin swim stroke/technique.
Pod 1 (Beginner): For 5-8 years in age. Fine Tune back and front crawl with breath. Unsupported glide front and back. Deep water work.
Pod 2 (Beginner 2): For 7 years and up. Introduction to backstroke, diving in the deep end and beginning to have a more defined freestyle stroke.
Pod 3 (Intermediate): For 8-10 years in age. Introduction to breastroke, diving off blocks and improving backstroke and freestyle strokes.
Pod 4 (Advanced Swimmer): For 10-14 years in age. Introduction to buttery and working to improve all other strokes. Improve freestyle breathing, flip turns, diving off blocks, and being prepared to join a swim team.
I completely forgot to add the hours for the lessons and what classes are taught. Please don’t shoot! Tuesdays and Thursdays 1630-1700 Pre 1 and Pod 1. 1700-1730 Pre 2 and Pod 2. 1730-1800 Pod 3 and Pod 4.

Pool Rules
- Obey Lifeguards at all times
- Walk. Do not run
- Children 10 and under must be supervised by an adult in the water at all times.
- Children 11-13 must be supervised by an adult unless they can demonstrate the ability to swim two laps unassisted and without stopping
- Food prohibited on pool apron/colored decking
- Glass containers prohibited
- Only properly fitting U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved life-jackets and USCG approved personal flotation devices (pfd) types I, II, or III allowed
- No inflatables/flotation devices are allowed (such as rings, noodles, baby floats, water wings, or large beach balls.)
- Dive only beyond the deep end mark. Do not dive in the shallow end.
- Shower before entering the pool
AquaClimb Climbing Wall
A safe, fun alternative to slides and diving boards, AquaClimb® walls make a great addition to your fitness and recreation programs, provide supplemental training for aquatic sports teams, and are a unique, fun way for kids to learn about climbing, take risks in a controlled environment, and develop healthy skills for life.
Rules
- No chalk or shoes on the rock wall
- Fall backwards not forwards
- No flips or dives off the wall
- No swimming under the wall while it is in use
- No swinging on the wall
- One at a time on the rock wall
- No jumping out from the wall (push away)
- No goggles
- Children 12 and under require parents’ supervision (parents need to be in water)
- Stay outside red marks when someone is on the wall/stay out from under the wall
- Must be able to swim and climb wall unassisted
- Lifeguards can administer swim test before allowing usage of wall
- Only one (1) attempt before allowing the next person
- No climbing to exhaustion

Includes certification. Must qualify and pass all the requirements, and be 15 or older to sign up. Fourteen-year-olds can take the class under special circumstances, call the pool for more information.
To Qualify: Must be able to do a 300-meter front crawl or breaststroke swim without stopping, tread water for 2 minutes, and swim to a brick, pick it up, carry 10-15 yards underwater, bring it to the surface, then back swim with the brick on their chest, ‘out of the water’ and return to the starting point.
Bring a swimsuit and towel, water bottle and lunch; goggles are allowed for the 300-meter swim.
