Air Force Aid Society or any Aid Society Application (Army Emergency Relief, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance) requests can be submitted as follows.

• Air Force and Space Force APPLICANTS APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE MUST NOW USE A NEW LINK TO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION:
  https://portal.afas.org/my-applications. Contact your local Military & Family Readiness Center for guidance on How to Apply or call the AFAS HQ Emergency Assistance Section at 703-972-2604.
• All other branches of the military are required to visit their nearest installation, or contact their Military Service relief organization’s website to learn more about eligibility and how to apply for aid. However, if the service member is within 50 miles of their local aid society then the service member will complete the application via the red cross using the options below:
  • Submit a Request Online Using a computer, smartphone or tablet, members can start a request for services and track its progress from anywhere in the world.
  • Submit a Request to https://saf.redcross.org/css

Career Focus provides employment guidance and career counseling. The M&FRC assists with self-assessment, resume writing, interviewing skills and salary negotiation to assist with local, federal, and home-based employment. The M&FRC also has a discovery center that includes of books on resume writing and internet-ready computers.

Family Life Education partners with a number of other bases helping agencies to provide education and assistance in the areas of parenting, marriage, dating, single-parent support, and single airmen support. For those unable to come to LA AFB, our outreach program is able to deliver services to geographically or socially isolated families, families new to the military, geographically separated family members, and newly arrived service members.

Preparation is important, and the M&FRC can be of assistance in the areas of deployment, crisis response to casualty situations, and family evacuations. Before deployment, members attend a briefing with the M&FRC Readiness NCO to address deployment concerns. The M&FRC offers morale calls, a monthly newsletter, Operation Sweet Dreams, and other programs to support family members of deployed members. In addition, The M&FRC Readiness NCO provides reintegration briefing when the service member return from deployment.

Make an appointment to go over your personal financial situation. Whether you’re ready to start investing or need assistance with managing debt, we are here to assist you one-on-one.

If you just moved here, we can assist you in identifying local resources and become acclimated to the area. Please visit Los Angeles AFB to learn all about or installation and find numerous reference materials. While you are at LA AFB, be sure to attend Sponsorship training so that you may be prepared as an LA AFB ambassador. Prior to departing LA AFB, take advantage of the monthly Managing Your Move workshop for PCSing members. You will hear briefings from base agencies, including TMO and Tricare to help you have a positive PCS experience.

If you are preparing to retire or separate from the Air Force as a military member or a civilian, the Transition Assistance Program will help you by providing career planning, resume reviews, access to employment opportunities and the development of job search skills. Pre-separation briefings are available on the first and third Monday of every month at 1pm. Briefings must be completed 90 days prior to separation or retirement. A five-day Transition GPS (goals plans success) workshop is offered monthly, and includes briefings the Department of Labor and the Veterans Administration.

Volunteering is a great way to build your skills while you serve your community. Your M&FRC will help you find opportunities to volunteer on base and in the community.

The DRC, located in the M&FRC, can provide general information and offers self-study resources on a variety of topics. Our computers are not on the military network to allow personnel to check information and websites that may not be accessible on .mil computers.
