Official Mail

The Official Mail Center provides official mail services to units on Maxwell AFB. We service Units and Contractors getting official government mail to support the mission. We offer First Class, Priority, Certified, Registered, and Media Mail for outgoing mail. PO Boxes are also available.

Before receiving or sending official mail, individuals must complete training and be listed on an AF Form 4332. This form must be signed by the security manager and appropriate appointing official.

Receiving

Receiving and delivery of official items from the United States Postal Service (USPS).

FedEx and UPS deliver using their own resources.

Sending / Delivering

Sending official items via USPS, FedEx, and UPS. Contractors deliver mail to on-base residents.

Training

Provide training to individuals designated by their unit to send and receive official mail.

Restrictions

Undeliverable items due to:

Address unknown, addressee temporarily away, misspellings, address errors, missing/incorrect information, no rural route or box, incorrect ZIP code, change of address, forward order expired, address vacant. DO NOT MAIL Hazardous, restricted, and perishable items are prohibited in the USPS mail stream. Below are examples of materials that cannot be sent. This is not an all-inclusive list. If in doubt, please inquire with staff.

  • Any form of alcohol

  • Any form of weapon

  • Corrosives

  • Explosives or Flammable/Combustable

  • Liquids

  • Gases (Pressured)

  • Biological Products

  • Drug Paraphernalia

  • Plant or Meat products
